He attended the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he learned printmaking for three years. After moving to New York, Saint Clair Cemin worked in carpentry, renovating lofts and cabinet making, before moving to sculpture. His works, built on a blend of precision crafting, noble materials and references to ancient Greece, Art Nouveau and surrealism, are strangely humorous and sensual. Feeling restless after staying long in one place, Saint Clair Cemin often moves residences to live in cities like Sao Paolo, New York, Paris, Cairo, Bali, or Beijing. As a result, the artist explores with different approaches and materiales so that his sculptures are influenced by different environments and encompass multiple styles. Saint Clair Cemin lives and works in New York City and Beijing.
