Through gestural scenes of childhood and family, American artist Ferrari Sheppard celebrates humanity and diasporic Black life. Kalima is based on an original painting of the same name, part of an ongoing study exploring methods of rendering the figure. An edition of 50, each 26 colour screenprint is hand finished by the artist with unique elements in acrylic paint, charcoal and 24k gold on Coventry Rag Vellum 320gsm.

Ferrari has hand-finished the edition in his signature energetic style, leaving a clear impression and giving each piece its own unique character. Studio marks, including fingerprints and charcoal smudges, are an expected and intentional part of this process.
