Esiri Erheriene-Essi (b. 1982 in London, UK) is a figurative painter whose work is captivated by history. In 2007 she attended the international residency program De Ateliers in Amsterdam, and later won the prestigious Dutch Royal Painting prize. The artist had her first solo museum exhibition at the Museum Arnhem, and was shortlisted for the Prix de Rome in 2019, the oldest and most generous prize for talented artists and architects in the Netherlands. Her work can be found in collections worldwide including Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, NL, ICA Miami, FL, Mana Contemporary, Chicago, IL, and the AkzoNobel Art Foundation, Amsterdam, NL, among others. Erheriene-Essi is currently an artist tutor in the Painting and Printmaking department at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Netherlands.
