This work draws on a collection of fairytales, particularly the story of Cinderella and the idea of being dressed by birds. Animals often carry symbolic weight in fairytales and archetypes: cats suggest one type of femininity, birds another. In this painting, Scaccia explores these associations through a more abstract composition, allowing the imagery to remain open while giving the work a title that helps guide the viewer’s understanding.

The painting evokes a tension between beauty and monstrosity, with a puppet-like ambiguity: it is unclear whether there is a figure beneath or simply a pile of clothes and wigs. Birds, which inspired the title, move through this layered composition, reinforcing the narrative interplay. This is also the first work in which Scaccia used acrylic flash, giving the surface a luminous, polished finish that enhances its tactile presence.
