"A song has taught me more than some people did, I can also say that much about the sky. As I painted this series I’ve walked further into adulthood, using the colors that once belonged to my childhood ask them to come further with me into this new chapter. This painting, as is much of this series, is about the unlocking of knowledge, power and therefore responsibility. The painter must combine precision, flow, feeling and technique in order to achieve an image worth keeping, the dancer must leap and retract on the right time, so does the fighter. I get to think that the sky taught me all that, or at least it holds itself over my head long enough for me to come up with these thoughts, this allowance is enough, and I honor the sky with a painting for giving me one more day to paint." - Samuel de Saboia
