Samuel de Saboia

Samuel de Saboia’s work manages to be both intimate and expansive, personal and universal. Rooted in a childhood shaped by religion and a heightened sense of empathy, his paintings unravel the tensions between obligation and liberation, selfhood and multiplicity. Across his œuvre, de Saboia balances figuration and abstraction, text and imagery, the spiritual and the corporeal. His work is a meditation on shared humanity, and presents a universe in which bodies and ideas exist fluidly, beyond rigid categorisation.
