In My Life Begins 1967, McDermott & McGough explore the aesthetics and emotional landscape of a pivotal moment in time. Painted in their signature style that recalls early twentieth century illustration, vintage advertising, and religious iconography, the work reflects on the cultural shifts and personal awakenings associated with the late 1960s.

Known for their immersive use of historical styles and their conceptual engagement with time, the artists create works that serve as both homage and critique. This painting appears as an artifact from a different era, yet it speaks directly to contemporary themes of identity, memory, and belonging.
