Thirty years ago, MARUANI MERCIER opened its doors at rue de la Régence with a simple yet ambitious idea: to create a space where art could unfold across time, ideas, and generations. Since then, what began as a focused program of American painters from the 1980s has grown into a vibrant, international platform for contemporary art. Over 300 exhibitions later, the gallery has become a place where different generations and perspectives intersect, sparking dialogue and driving artistic discourse forward.

That founding vision continued to resonate as the gallery expanded, taking on new forms and reaching new audiences. It shaped every chapter, from the early days at the Sablon, to the move to Avenue Louise. With each step, MARUANI MERCIER deepened its commitment to bridging the past and the present, the historical and the contemporary.

From pioneering modern masters to today’s dynamic innovators, the gallery provides a platform for both established and emerging artists of multiple origins. Across continents, MARUANI MERCIER has participated in leading art fairs, collaborated with curators on top-tier exhibitions, and contributed to new scholarship through critical publications and research initiatives. This milestone is not just a celebration of longevity, it is a tribute to the countless artists who have shaped our identity and became part of our DNA, the collectors who believed in our mission, the dedicated team that supported our vision, and the vibrant conversations that have emerged within these walls.

We celebrate 30 YEARS with a landmark exhibition: never before have 20 artists from our roster been shown together in one space. The presentation, held in our Knokke gallery, merge the diversities and unities of our program. It is a joyful, resolutely celebratory event that honors the past, engages the present, and looks boldly toward the future. Visitors are invited to journey through the evolution of MARUANI MERCIER over the past three decades while engaging with the ever-shifting landscape of contemporary art.
