Biography
Liz Markus is born in Buffalo, New York in 1967. She attended the school of Visual Arts, New York and later obtained her MFA from the Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia. Markus cannot predict how her work will ultimately look. Using acrylic on unprimed canvas, she lets the colors bleed, drip, and collide. As the painted surface dries, the image starts to spread. Markus' extraordinary skill with acrylic paint results in a painting released from the constraints of precision—yet self contained, capturing something deeper. Among other things, her work is inspired by fashion, strong women, and the spaces they inhabit.
Markus is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post. She lives and works in New York City.
